Dear Parents,
As our school continues to grow — particularly the Senior School — we are taking a deliberate and forward-looking step to expand and strengthen our senior leadership structure.
From August 2026, Ms. Lynne Oldfield will move into the newly created role of Executive Principal, providing leadership for academic strategy and oversight across the whole school while continuing to set the academic direction of The Perse School (Singapore).
At the same time, we are launching a search for a new Principal — a role which has been partly re-defined to dove tail into Ms. Oldfield’s new role. The Principal will have day to day responsibility for the whole school, while also holding direct oversight of the Senior School, including staff development, academic delivery, pastoral systems, and parent communication. We anticipate this appointment will take effect from August 2026.
Ms. Oldfield and the new Principal will be supported by an enhanced Senior School leadership team which will include the following roles from August 2026. These roles are designed to ensure clarity, sustainability, and appropriate leadership depth as the Senior School grows in size and complexity.
Senior school academic leadership will be supported by several middle leaders such as Head of Years and Head of Departments. More details on this will be shared at a later stage.
Streamlining Senior School Operations for current academic year 2025-2026
Mr. Metherell (Tom) will continue in his role as Assistant Head – Academic Operations (Whole School), overseeing school operations across both Primary and Senior School.
During the interim period, Tom will take on an enhanced coordination role for Senior School operational and academic queries, working closely with Heads of Department and Ms. Oldfield’s office.
We will also have a new Lead Teacher for Personal Social Development (PSD), Ms. Kathryn Upshall.
Finally, we have appointed Year level pastoral leads in senior school who will provide greater pastoral support to the senior school cohort.
Please note that the first port of call for any queries about your child is your Form Tutor.
We look forward to sharing updates as we progress and thank you, as always, for your continued trust and support.

This week we saw evidence of collaboration and cooperation between students of all years as they were engaged in Mandarin Enrichment week.
There were activities in class where students learned about the culture of Chinese New Year but also in planning, practising and actioning performances which celebrate this very important festival. The collaboration between the years exhibited from our very youngest to our year 10 students was indicative of how far the school has come in such a short time. It was wonderful to see the comparison of Year 9 and also Year 10 and how they linked performances together. The production showcased so many individual and group performances under the excellent direction of Ms Stella Rainalter-Lim and the Mandarin department. The Temple Fair was also made possible by their efforts and the very large group of parent volunteers, and so our heartfelt thanks go to you all.
As we break for the mid-term short holiday, I wish all our community 新年快乐 and remind all that school resumes on Thursday, 19th February 2026.

The first-ever football matches hosted at The Perse School Singapore were unforgettable! The girls’ team battled bravely in an exciting game, narrowly losing 3–4 in a thrilling encounter that had everyone cheering until the final whistle. The boys’ team delivered an equally dramatic performance, clinching a 6-2 victory in their match. The day was filled with energy, applause, and community spirit as students, families, and staff gathered to celebrate the debut of football at Perse, a fantastic start to many more fixtures ahead!
At the recent FOBISIA Gymnastics Games, Sade and Zoe proudly represented their school with determination and talent. Zoe delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing strength, precision, and confidence across her routines, earning several well-deserved medals.
Sade also impressed the judges and audience alike. Competing in a gymnastics level against children much older than her, she demonstrated remarkable courage and skill. Despite the tough competition, Sade achieved an incredible top-10 finish. Both gymnasts showed fantastic sportsmanship and resilience, making their school extremely proud of their achievements.
Last weekend, our pupils took part in the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Tigers International Juniors Tournament, one of Asia’s leading youth rugby events. First held in 2015, the tournament has grown into one of the region’s largest, welcoming over 150 teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.
Year 5 pupils Jamie Alpe and Leo Nacci, alongside Ari Sedgwick (Year 6), represented a combined Singapore Centaurs & Titans Barbarians team in the U11 category. Demonstrating impressive teamwork, resilience and determination throughout the competition, the boys achieved a fantastic result, finishing 4th overall in the Saucer division.
Year 8 pupils Tama Sedgwick (Centaurs & Titans Barbarians), Conor Ocks (Singapore Cricket Club) and Charlie Cassell (Dragons) also represented their Singapore clubs in the U13’s category, playing hard and working well with their teams to work their way through this fantastic tournament, that brings so many clubs together.
We are incredibly proud of their commitment and sportsmanship on the international stage—well done, boys!
Ananya is one of our Year 4 students who recently discovered a love for acting after responding to an open audition call. Though initially hesitant, she quickly found her confidence on set and went on to land the lead child role in a short film. A natural lover of music and freestyle dance, this was Ananya’s first foray into acting—and she ended up loving it!
The film follows an elderly former pianist who, after a life-changing accident, loses his passion for music. Ananya plays a lively young girl who enters his life and helps him rediscover his love for music and joy for living. It will be released on OTT for public viewing soon!
