My name is Sophia Li and I am the Secondary School Music Teacher as well as the Year 9 and 10 Pastoral Lead. I arrived in Singapore on Christmas Eve 2025 – a whirlwind start to a journey I’ve loved so far. At Perse, I have spent my first few months focused on building a vibrant school-wide culture of music while ensuring our Year 9 and 10 students feel supported and cared for as they navigate their upper secondary years. We have already seen a fantastic response with our Junior and Senior Choirs, and I am eager to expand our ensemble program.
My background is a bit of a global mix—born and raised in Sydney with Korean and Chinese roots, with a career that has taken me from the Royal College of Music affiliate in Shanghai back to Sydney’s Meriden School. I’m a Sydney Conservatorium of Music alum with a Master’s in Educational Psychology from UNSW.
Outside of the classroom, I like to stay connected to my own craft and currently, that happens with the Voices of Singapore City Chorus. I’m especially looking forward to performing with the Berlin Philharmonic on our European tour this December.
