MESSAGE FROM ASSISTANT HEAD (ACADEMIC OPERATIONS)

THOMAS METHERELL

Road Safety

Recently I delivered road safety presentations in the Pelicans and Junior School assemblies to remind the students of the importance about keeping safe around the road and when they are travelling in a car. It is vitally important that our students understand the dangers posed by not understanding or actioning good road safety. We spoke about the three rules when crossing a road: STOP, LOOK and LISTEN…even at controlled crossings with lights and zebra crossings. Also discussed with the students was “click goes your seatbelt” when you get into a car before proceeding on your journey. Miss Lian is organising workshops in June with the Police to ensure all students are continually reminded about how to stay safe. Please help us by reinforcing this at home, especially if you have given your children permission to bring themselves to and from school.

Lanyard Reminder

Thank you so much to parents who are arriving on site with their identifying Perse parent lanyards. These are crucial in ensuring our school site is secure and that all adults on site are easily identifiable. As part of our safeguarding procedures, staff will challenge anyone without a lanyard to ensure our children are safe while they are in school.

Appointments

While we appreciate it is not always possible, please could parents try to schedule appointments outside school hours to ensure students are not missing curriculum time. If it is unavoidable, please give as much advance notice as possible by emailing the School Office and also CC in your child’s form tutor.

Hats and Water Bottles

I am sure I am not alone in noticing the warmer weather lately so as a reminder please ensure you send your children in with a hat and a water bottle so they can keep sun smart and hydrated during the school day. There are water fountains (cold and chilled water) across every level that they can refill their bottles throughout the day. Families can also purchase official Perse School Singapore hats from our uniform supplier Bibi Baba, https://www.schooluniforms.sg/perse, Online passcode: PERS2025
