We are increasingly concerned about students’ understanding of road safety, particularly when crossing roads near the school and when cycling or scooting to and from campus. In some cases, students are travelling without helmets or without following basic safety practices.
Road safety is an important shared responsibility, and we would greatly appreciate parents reinforcing these messages at home. Please take time to talk with your children about safe road-crossing habits and the importance of travelling safely when cycling or scooting.
We will also be reinforcing these messages in school through our Personal and Social Development (PSD) lessons. Additionally, we will collaborate with the Singapore Police Force and The Singapore Road Safety Council in this important area. For our younger students, this will include practical activities to help them develop safe habits.
We have also reviewed where students park their bicycles and scooters, as well as entry and exit points on campus, to further improve safety in these areas. We strongly encourage active travel to school, but it is essential that it is done safely.
A further area we are evaluating is to introduce a register for all students who either bicycle or use a scooter to travel to and from the school. We will keep you updated on this.
